As we enter this holiday season so many of us have so much to be thankful for. Time well spent with family, scrumptious food, the giving of presents, all are things we have to look forward to in the coming weeks. It's truly a blessed time of the year, filled with love and caring.

Not everyone is that lucky, however. Every day there are children in this country who will go to be hungry. Children who will be overlooked, forgotten, lost in the holiday shuffle. Some will even suffer horrific abuse at the hands of those who should be caring for them the most.

Black Friday for our country means a day of shopping frenzies and doorbuster sales. For most its the true start of the holiday season, a chance to buy that perfect present, to score that great deal. So many times we get so caught up in the hype, the excitement, that we can lose sight of what really matters.

So this year we are asking everyone to share this post in a reminder that a child next to you in line, or down the street, or at your child's school may need you to focus less on the gift wrapping this season and more on what may be going on behind closed doors.

We want to plant the seed that this isn't just another social media post on a busy day. Rather we hope that it will become a yearly reminder each and holiday season, Black Friday and frankly every day that there are voices that need to be heard and helped.

You never know how much even a small act of kindness can matter to someone in desperate circumstances. The kindness and goodness you pay forward might even come around to help and save someone close and beloved to you. So this season, remember that there are those out there who need a lifeline. A simple phone call could save a life.
